Out and About: Protecting Your Mobile Device

These days it is a given that we take our mobile device with us wherever we go and as someone who loves the outdoors and exploring England’s matchless network of footpaths I am no different. There is just so much you can do with them to enhance your enjoyment of time outside, just Googling that parish church for instance to find out when it was built and a bit more of its history. One of my favourite apps is this one; flora-eu , with which I have a fighting chance to identify any wildflowers I might encounter.

There is of course one thing I never do, and that is get my device to do the navigating for me, for that we have the worlds best maps and using them properly will keep you safer than you ever can be trusting GPS and the less than informative maps available on your device. Indeed if you are somewhere where terrain information, contours, rock and scree formations, for instance are needed you are completely out of luck. Still I hope and expect I am preaching to the converted here.

One thing that does worry me is the chance of damaging a fairly expensive piece of equipment during scrambles around the countryside, even in a county so benign seeming as Dorset. Those of you have have deviated from the coastal path folowing the glimpse of an unrecognized plant will realise there are plenty of opportunities for slip-ups. So what I want from a case (for my iPad as it happens) is reasonably light weight, secure fastening, good hand grip, hard wearing materials, oh and something that doesn’t look like I should really be in a vodka bar in Fulham.

The best I’ve found are these covers from Tuff Luv – take a look at the iPad covers here and if you prefer the Kindle covers here. The ones I’m refering to specifically are the saddleback leather variety, they just feel secure in the hand and the build quality and fastenings are very re-assuring. You’ll see that Tuff Luv also make the vodka bar types, I suppose they have to, but also a very interesting range of Hemp covers for the eco-conscious. Since these also look hard-wearing I might take a closer look at them next time.

Eye Twitching

There are many different reasons why people suffer from eye twitching but there are not many that are very serious. However eye twitching can become annoying and this is more so when you try to read, write, or watch TV. If you are experiencing any other symptoms besides the eye twitching the you need to see your doctor to receive a diagnosis and also a check up.

The most common reason for an eye twitch is lack of sleep, fatigue, computer and television screens, lack of vitamins, eye strain, allergies, caffeine, and compressed nerves. To find out what had caused your eye twitching you should first take a look at your lifestyle, which is similar to symptoms. Sleep fatigue and stress occurring together may cause eye twitching and can cause more symptoms.

Many people say that there is no reason what so ever for eye twitching but this is because there is a list that is so long it is difficult to go through and eliminate some of the causes, like eye strain All symptoms listed are the most common reasons for eye twitching but there are some many more also.

When both eyes twitch it is known as blepharospasm, this can be debilitating because both eyes start to sag and it could cause blindness. This can be a bit more serious if one eye is having this problem, this would be known as a hemifacial spasm. In these type of cases eye twitching is cured as soon as it has been identified, or twitching symptoms. So eye twitching really isn’t a really serious issue but it needs to be checked out if you cannot find any reason why it is happening. If you really feel that your eye twitching is more then just that, go see your doctor.

The Four P’s

Nearly every business on the planet sets out with the primary objective of earning money. This is generally done by manufacturing some form of product, or offering a service, and then charging customers money for it. This fundamental principle is fairly straight-forward, although it contains many specific details.

Firstly, it is a very rare case that a company can offer a product or service that is genuinely unique and cannot be provided by anyone else. This means that your company will be competing with other businesses that sell a similar item and you will both be trying to earn money from the same shoppers, who only want to spend their money once.

Marketing is the primary tool used by modern organisations to draw prospective customers to do business with them and not with their competitors. It is a very extensive topic that is affected by a great deal of internal and external variables, but when done right it can be the single business practise that could make or break a corporation. Any time spent on marketing will reap rewards, although spending this time correctly can yield incredible results.

So where should you start when creating a marketing strategy for your own company? Well, each situation is different, and every company will have its own set of advantages and weak points that must be taken into consideration, but there is a marketing principle that can be applied to almost any corporation to be used as a marketing platform. It is known as the “Marketing Mix”.

The Marketing Mix

The marketing mix was a phrase that was first coined during the 1950′s and is a phrase that is used to express the fundamental building blocks of any marketing strategy. It reflects the fact that marketing is not a simple, blunt-edged business tool, but rather a delicate balance of different aspects of business operations.

The term was later developed to include the concept of “four P’s” that described the critical elements of the marketing mix. The formalisation of these P’s made it very clear for company managers and marketers to quickly associate the elements of marketing to the strengths of their own companies, and by doing so could very quickly create a customised and efficient marketing system. The four P’s are Product, Price, Place and Promotion.

Our business already sells a profitable variety of industrial floor paints yet we still use new marketing suggestions to improve our revenue numbers.

Product

Although every element of the marketing mix is a necessity, the “product” element mentioned as one of the four P’s is perhaps the most crucial of all. It identifies the physical product or intangible service that your company will be selling, and at the end of the day it is the reason that customers are going to spend money with you.

Many people don’t think that marketing has any place to play when it comes to the actual product that your business is selling. In fact, the common train of thought very often bears the precise opposite sentiment. Surely it should be the opposite way around – your production department creates a product for sale and then it is the job of the marketing department to discover ways to sell it, right?

Take the computer software market as an example. There are many well-known brands of both operating system and software application products on the market already, and since the market is relatively well saturated it would be very tough (and expensive) to “take on the big boys”.

Rather than developing an operating system and then trying to craft a marketing strategy to rival the likes of Microsoft or Apple, it would be more effective to look at what sorts of product are sought after in the current marketplace, and how viable it would be to produce and sell them.

Once your products have been designed and created it is still a critical skill to be able to objectively review your own products to identify the reasons that a customer would buy your product rather than a competitors’.

Another form of this part of the marketing mix is known as product variation and is generally used to either prolong the lifecycle of a product currently in the market, or to make your new product attractive to as many customers as possible.

The motor industry uses this technique very effectively by offering different engines, trim packages and interior options with the cars that they sell. They use the marketing mix to good effect to sell their own goods in an extremely competitive marketplace.

To preserve a standard corporate image a business should update their own web presence an example would be light cooking which reflect colours, text and also graphics associated with their branding.

Price

Another key factor in the marketing mix concerns the price of your products or services. This is not a simple case of carrying out market research to determine the highest price that your customers would spend (although that can be a handy tool to use), but rather using the price of your products as a strategic tool designed to achieve any particular goals your company has.

Whilst it may seem obvious, it is still worth noting that price has always been, and likely always will be, one of the key factors that shoppers take into account when they are making a purchase. It is also worth noting that customers do not constantly consider the lowest price to be the best price.

There are many questions that you need to ask yourself when devising a good pricing plan, key among which are the price sensitivity of your customers, what your rivals are doing and how can pricing boost your own profits. From a strategy point of view though, pricing can be covered by two main principals; price skimming and also penetration pricing.

Price skimming

The main idea driving price skimming is to make as much cash as possible from the sector of the market which is price-insensitive and will be willing to spend a premium amount of money to receive a product or service early on. Not only can this technique yield great financial advantages, but it can also promote an exclusive and high quality image of your product.

This pricing strategy is very often used in the consumer electronics industry where customers will often eagerly await the release of a new mobile phone or computer games console. Manufacturers could set almost any price they wanted to and there would still be a loyal core of customers that would pay it. By making use of this method as part of a pre-ordering strategy, a company can help to smooth its own cash flow.

Penetration pricing

Penetration pricing is at the opposite end of the pricing spectrum, and is geared towards gaining a large market share at a short-term cost so that financial rewards can be earned long into the future. It can be a high risk strategy, but when used correctly it can create revenue streams for many years to come.

Another thing to bear in mind is that “price” is the only part of the marketing mix that will generate income for a business. The other members of the four P’s will all cost money to produce or carry out. So it is even more vital to get your pricing technique right.

To optimise our website for Google visibility we chose large childrens bean bags for a targeted key phrase since it relates to our company and what we do.

Place

Place is the part of the marketing mix that’s often not addressed by companies, but it is still an important part of selling your product successfully. In short, it describes the way in which you provide your product to your customer, and consequently how you receive money from them. It can be a fantastic marketing technique when used correctly.

The most common ramifications of place-based marketing are the physical venues in which your products are sold. For the vast majority of consumer products, this involves the distribution infrastructure between your manufacturing plants and shops and other outlets around the world. Since distribution of a physical product costs money it is important to identify your own priorities and adjust your distribution network accordingly. This is the primary application of this part of the marketing mix.

With the increasing use of the Internet by your potential customers, marketing methods have had to consider how they use the Internet to help deliver their products. By using the Internet as a point of contact (or even as an entire distribution route in download-based markets such as MP3s) firms are now able to reach out to a huge pool of potential customers. Effective positioning of your product or service can therefore deliver impressive economic results.

Promotion

When you mention the word “marketing”, most people immediately think of the promotional aspect of the marketing mix, although as we have seen, this is merely one branch of a more comprehensive system. Promotion can be used on a very individual basis or as a mass communication instrument, and whilst it may be an expensive undertaking it is often an essential one.

Advertising is one of the most common forms of promotion. Classically it would be done by posting on billboards, creating short clips for TV and radio or by physically handing out flyers or leaflets to potential customers. With the arrival of the information age we have seen a great increase in promotion via e-mail and the Internet, or simply as targeted advertising materials posted through your front door. The potential for individualised advertising has never been so great.

Another important part of promotion involves branding, which may not necessarily yield more product sales directly, but goes back to one of the initial purposes of marketing; getting customers to choose your product over those of your competitors.

Putting it into Practise

As previously mentioned each business is unique and will have different marketing needs. By using a mixture of the four P’s discussed above you can take an effective view of your own marketing strategy.

Modern Marketing

Practically every business on the planet sets out with the primary objective of making money. This is usually done by manufacturing some form of product, or offering a service, and then charging customers money for it.

Firstly, it is a very rare case that a business can offer a product or service that is truly unique and cannot be provided by anyone else. This means that your company will be competing with other businesses that sell a similar item and you will both be trying to earn money from the same customers, who only want to spend their money once. So how can you increase the chances of them spending money with you?

Marketing is the primary tool used by modern firms to draw potential customers to do business with them and not with their competitors. It is a very broad topic that is affected by a great number of internal and external variables, but when done right it can be the one business practice that can make or break a company. Any time spent on marketing will reap rewards, although spending this time correctly can yield extraordinary results.

So where should you start when creating a marketing strategy for your own business? Well, every situation is different, and each business will have its own set of advantages and weaknesses that must be taken into consideration, but there is a marketing principle that can be applied to almost any corporation to be used as a marketing platform.

The Marketing Mix

The marketing mix was a term that was first coined in the 1950′s and is an expression that is used to express the fundamental building blocks of any marketing strategy. It demonstrates the fact that marketing is not a straightforward, blunt-edged business tool, but rather a subtle balance of different aspects of business operations.

The term was later built upon to include the concept of “four P’s” that described the critical elements of the marketing mix. The formalisation of these P’s made it very easy for business managers and marketers to swiftly relate the elements of marketing to the strengths of their own companies, and by doing so could very quickly create a personalised and efficient marketing strategy.

Our company created a promotional strategy for our cotton bedding products by using the marketing mix to determine our marketing advantages.

Product

Although every element of the marketing mix is a necessity, the “product” element mentioned as one of the four P’s is perhaps the most crucial of all. It identifies the physical product or intangible service that your company will be offering, and at the end of the day it is the reason that customers are going to spend money with you.

Several people don’t think that marketing has any role to play when it comes to the actual product that your business is selling. In fact, the typical train of thought very often bears the exact opposite sentiment. Surely it should be the other way around – your manufacturing department creates a product for sale and then it is the job of the marketing department to find ways to sell it, right? This is not necessarily the case.

Consider the computer software market as an example. There are many well-known brands of both operating system and software application solutions in the marketplace already, and since the market is fairly well saturated it would be very tough (and expensive) to “take on the big boys”.

Rather than creating an operating system and then trying to craft a marketing strategy to take on the likes of Microsoft and Apple, it would be far more effective to look at what sorts of product are sought after in the current marketplace, and how feasible it would be to manufacture and sell them.

Once your products have been fashioned and created it is still a critical skill to be able to objectively evaluate your own products to identify the reasons that a customer would buy your product rather than a competitors’. The technique is called product differentiation and forms one of the fundamental skills of the product part of the marketing mix cake.

A different form of this part of the marketing mix is known as product variation and is generally used to either extend the lifecycle of a product already in the market, or to make your new product attractive to as many customers as possible.

The car industry uses this approach very effectively by offering various engines, trim packages and interior options with the cars that they sell. They use the marketing mix to great effect to sell their own products in an incredibly competitive marketplace. Although these companies may have substantial marketing budgets, the same concepts can be applied to all businesses.

To preserve a standard corporate image a business ought to redesign their portal an example would be easy one pot recipes who echo colourings, fonts and also images associated with their own branding.

Price

Another important factor in the marketing mix concerns the price of your products or services. This is not a simple case of carrying out market research to determine the top price that your customers would spend (although that can be a handy tool to use), but rather using the price of your products as a strategic weapon designed to achieve any particular goals your business has. The potential advantages of an effective pricing plan are surprisingly large!

Although it may seem obvious, it’s still worth pointing out that price has always been, and likely always will be, one of the crucial factors that shoppers take into account when they are making a purchase. It is also worth noting that customers don’t always consider the cheapest price to be the best value.

There are many questions that you need to ask yourself when devising a good pricing strategy, key amongst which are the price sensitivity of your clients, what your rivals are doing and how can pricing boost your own profits. From a strategy point of view though, pricing can be covered by two main principals; price skimming and also penetration pricing. These are outlined below.

Price skimming

The principal idea driving price skimming is to make as much cash as possible from the segment of the market which is price-insensitive and will be prepared to spend a large amount of money to receive a product or service early on. Not only can this technique yield excellent financial benefits, but it can also advertise an exclusive and high quality image of your product.

This pricing strategy is very often used in the consumer electronics industry where customers will often eagerly await the launch of a new mobile phone or computer games console. Makers could set nearly any price they wanted to and there would still be a loyal base of customers that would pay it.

Penetration pricing

Penetration pricing is at the other end of the pricing spectrum, and is tailored towards gaining a large market share at a short-term cost so that financial benefits can be earned long into the future. It can be a high risk strategy, but when employed correctly it can setup revenue streams for many years to come. When setting a price for penetration it is still critical to not give a bad impression of your product by aiming for too low a figure.

Yet another thing to keep in mind is that “price” is the one part of the marketing mix that will generate income for a business. The other members of the four P’s will all cost money to produce or undertake.

Grabbing some of the on-line search market is very beneficial, so choose a key phrase, such as 2TB hard drives and evaluate if that phrase has an ample search marketplace for your needs.

Place

Place is the component of the marketing mix that is often not addressed by companies, but it is still an important part of selling your product effectively. In a nutshell, it describes the way in which you deliver your product to your consumer, and subsequently how you receive money from them. It can be a great marketing technique when applied appropriately.

The most common ramifications of place-based marketing are the physical locations in which your goods are sold. For the vast majority of consumer products, this involves the distribution network between your production plants and shops or other outlets around the world. Since distribution of a physical product costs money it is important to identify your own priorities and modify your distribution network accordingly. This is the main application of this element of the marketing mix.

With the growing use of the Internet by your potential customers, marketing strategies have had to take into account how they use the Internet to help distribute their products. By using the Internet as a point of contact (or even as a whole distribution channel in download-based markets such as MP3s) firms are now able to reach out to a huge pool of possible customers.

Promotion

When you say the word “marketing”, most people immediately think of the promotional side of the marketing mix, although as we have seen, this is only one branch of a more comprehensive system. Promotion can be used on a very individual basis or as a mass communication instrument, and whilst it may be a costly undertaking it is often an important one.

Advertising is one of the most typical forms of promotion. Typically it would be done by posting on billboards, creating short clips for TV and radio or by physically distributing flyers or leaflets to potential customers. With the arrival of the information age we have witnessed a great increase in promotion via e-mail and the Internet, or just as targeted advertising material posted through your front door. The potential for individualised advertising has never been so great.

Another important part of promotion involves branding, which may not necessarily yield more product sales directly, but goes back to one of the preliminary functions of marketing; getting customers to pick your product over those of your competitors.

Putting it into Practice

As previously mentioned each business is unique and will have different marketing needs. By using a balance of the four P’s reviewed above you can take an effective view of your own marketing strategy.

Elements Of A Successful Marketing Campaign

Almost every business on the planet sets out with the main objective of earning money. This is generally done by producing some form of product, or offering a service, and then charging customers money for it. This fundamental principle is fairly straight-forward, although it contains many intricate details.

First of all, it is a very rare case where a company can offer a product or service that is truly unique and cannot be supplied by anybody else. This means that your company will be competing with other businesses that sell a similar item and you will both be trying to earn money from the same customers, who only want to spend their money once. So how can you improve the chances of them spending money with you?

Marketing is the primary tool used by modern businesses to draw potential customers to do business with them and not with their rivals. It is a very broad topic that is influenced by a great deal of internal and external factors, but when done well it can be the single business practise that can make or break a corporation. Any time spent on marketing will reap rewards, although spending this time efficiently can yield incredible results.

So where should you begin when creating a marketing strategy for your own business? Well, each situation is different, and each business will have its own set of strengths and weaknesses that must be taken into consideration, but there is a marketing rule that can be applied to almost any company to be used as a marketing framework. It is known as the “Marketing Mix”.

The Marketing Mix

The marketing mix was a term that was first coined during the 1950′s and is a phrase that is used to express the fundamental building blocks of any marketing system. It demonstrates the fact that marketing is not a simple, blunt-edged business technique, but rather a delicate balance of different elements of business functions.

The term was later developed to include the idea of “four P’s” that described the essential elements of the marketing mix. The formalisation of these P’s made it very clear for business managers and marketers to swiftly relate the elements of marketing to the strengths of their own companies, and by doing so could very quickly form a personalised and effective marketing strategy.

Our organisation excels in providing chiropractors in Nottingham and although we believed our marketing strategy was adequate we have seen advancements since using marketing mix ideas.

Product

Whilst every element of the marketing mix is a necessity, the “product” element mentioned as one of the four P’s is possibly the most crucial of all. It identifies the physical product or intangible service that your business will be offering, and at the end of the day it is the reason that buyers are going to spend money with you. If this element is not adequately managed then your organisation will find it hard to make it through.

Many people don’t think that marketing has any role to play when it comes to the physical product that your business is selling. In fact, the common train of thought very often bears the precise opposite sentiment. Surely it should be the opposite way around – your manufacturing department creates a product for sale and then it is the job of the marketing department to find ways to sell it, right? This is not always the case.

Take the computer software market as an example. There are many established brands of both operating system as well as software application solutions on the market already, and because the market is relatively well saturated it would be incredibly tough (and expensive) to “take on the big boys”. So how could the principles of the marketing mix help in this circumstance?

Rather than developing an operating system and then trying to craft a marketing strategy to rival the likes of Microsoft or Apple, it would be far more effective to look at what types of product are sought after in the current marketplace, and how viable it would be to manufacture and sell them. By being aware of the marketing mix early on in your product development period you can avoid business dead-ends at a later time.

Once your goods have been designed and created it is still a critical skill to be able to objectively evaluate your own products to identify the reasons that a customer should buy your product rather than a competitors’.

A different form of this part of the marketing mix is called product variation and is generally used to either prolong the lifecycle of a product currently in the market, or to make your new product attractive to as many consumers as possible.

The motor industry uses this approach very effectively by offering different engines, trim packages and interior options with the cars that they sell. They use the marketing mix to great effect to sell their own products in an incredibly competitive marketplace.

“Product is paramount” is one of the main slogans applied within wooden storage organisation which tries to remind all staff that we expect top quality production.

Price

Another important factor in the marketing mix relates to the price of your products or services. This isn’t a simple case of performing market research to determine the highest price that your customers would spend (although that can be a handy tool to use), but rather using the price of your products as a strategic tool designed to achieve any specific objectives your company has. The potential benefits of an effective pricing plan are surprisingly large!

Whilst it may seem obvious, it is still worth noting that price has always been, and probably always will be, one of the crucial factors that shoppers take into account when they are making a purchase. It is also worth noting that customers don’t constantly consider the cheapest price to be the best price. Actually a price that is too low can sometimes turn buyers away.

There are many questions that you need to ask yourself when devising a good pricing strategy, key among which are the price sensitivity of your customers, what your competitors are doing and how can pricing boost your own profits. From a strategy point of view however, pricing can be covered by two primary principals; price skimming and penetration pricing.

Price skimming

The principal idea behind price skimming is to make as much money as possible from the segment of the market which is price-insensitive and are going to be willing to spend a large amount of money to receive a product or service early on. Not only can this approach yield excellent economic advantages, but it can also advertise an exclusive and high quality image of your product.

This pricing strategy is frequently used in the consumer electronics market where customers will often eagerly await the launch of a new mobile phone or computer games console. Manufacturers could set nearly any price they wanted to and there would still be a loyal core of customers that would pay it. By making use of this method as part of a pre-ordering strategy, a company can help to smooth its own money flow.

Penetration pricing

Penetration pricing is at the other end of the pricing spectrum, and is tailored towards gaining a large market share at a short-term cost so that monetary rewards can be made long into the future. It can be a high risk strategy, but when employed correctly it can setup revenue streams for many years to come. When establishing a price for penetration it is still essential to not give a poor impression of your product by aiming for too low a figure.

Yet another thing to keep in mind is that “price” is the only part of the marketing mix that will generate revenue for a business. The other members of the four P’s will all cost money to produce or carry out. So it is even more vital to get your pricing technique right.

Grabbing some of the on-line search market is extremely beneficial, so choose a key phrase, just like edible cake decorating and consider if that phrase has an adequate search marketplace for your purposes.

Place

Place is the component of the marketing mix that is often disregarded by companies, but it’s still an important part of selling your product effectively. In short, it describes the method in which you provide your product to your consumer, and subsequently how you collect money from them. It can be a fantastic marketing approach when applied appropriately.

The most common ramifications of place-based marketing are the physical venues in which your products are sold. For the majority of consumer products, this includes the distribution network between your manufacturing plants and retailers and other outlets around the country. Since distribution of a physical product costs money it is crucial to determine your own priorities and adapt your distribution network appropriately. This is the main application of this part of the marketing mix.

Promotion

When you say the word “marketing”, most people immediately think of the promotional aspect of the marketing mix, although as we have seen, this is only one branch of a more complete system. Advertising is one of the most common forms of promotion. Classically it would be done by posting on billboards, creating short clips for TV and radio or by physically handing out flyers or leaflets to potential buyers. With the coming of the information age we have seen a great increase in promotion via e-mail and the Internet, or just as targeted advertising materials posted through your front door. The potential for individualised advertising has never been so great.

Another important part of promotion involves branding, which will not necessarily yield more sales directly, but relates back to one of the initial purposes of marketing; getting customers to pick your product over those of your competitors.

Putting it into Practise

As previously mentioned each company is unique and will have different marketing requirements. By using a balance of the four P’s reviewed above you can take an effective view of your own marketing plan.
